VEGAN DIET
What is a vegan diet?
A vegan diet is a
demanding restrictive diet as doesn't allow all sources of animal origin.
Adopting this eating behavior expresses a philosophy that must be respected
In general, veganism is an ethical stance toward
animals, the environment, and people, of which nutrition is only one aspect. Adopting
this diet we avoid, inter alia, exploiting animals for any of our needs: we do not wear skins,
furs, silks, and so on.
Advantages and disadvantages of a vegan diet
The advantages of vegan may be, reducing weight and cholesterol, improvement of productivity, elimination of inflammations, and better psychological health but there are also risks to health such as deficiencies in some basic elements with negative consequences to the organism. For this reason, it’s necessary to consult a nutritionist or a doctor before following a vegan diet and undergoing a medical examination.
In case of a specific
disorder or illness, there is a need to be paid extra attention and it is
recommended to be cautious in the consumption of raw food.
Some essential
nutrient ingredients you need to add as they are met in meat and meat-origin
products are Vitamins B12 and D3, Creatine, omega-3 fatty acids, Iron, Calcium
and Amino-acids.
The good news is that
you can intake these elements from vegan food provided you consult a
nutritionist or a doctor in order to select the appropriate menu. The truth is
that there is a variety of delicious dishes compatible with the vegan concept containing
rich nutritional value.
The drawback is mainly
related to daily life and psychology. Vegan and vegetarian food isn't available
in all places, so during a journey or a meeting, the choices are limited and
there is the risk of not intake the necessary elements.
Challenges of a vegan diet
Follow the vegan diet with consistency and discipline by getting all the necessary nutrients by eating delicious, quality and nutritious snacks at a very good price.
Eating in restaurants
with friends or participating in social meetings accompanied by food may be a
temptation for a vegan.
Most ethnic cuisines
contain meat and meat products, so being a vegan isn't possible to taste new
flavors and recipes.
Eliminating meat and
sea products doesn't mean necessarily keeping fit, because plant-based products
may add extra calories, taking into consideration that don't contain many
proteins of high biological value.
